My love for Ebgaland

Olumo Rock on Jan 1, 2009
There is something about egbaland which calms my soul.
There is something about those rocks which that set free the bird in me.
This city holds many memories for me.
"My first birthday"
"I met my first boyfriend in the city  and so many others"

My life has always been split between Lagos and Abeokuta. As a child I was always mesmerized by the huge trees along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and always looked forward to the holidays. The trips to Ibukun cinema, gateway hotel and cultural centre to watch the latest movies back in the days. When my best friend decided to settle in Egbaland back in 2003, I knew that I would always have a reason to visit Egbaland.

The moment I stepped into Hyderabad, India in 2010. I knew the only reason I could call that city home was because of the memories it brought up in my head.

Now I know why re adjusting my life back in Lagos has been so difficult. I want or rather I expected Lagos to treat me as Abeokuta does. Even though I am a born, breed and origin of Lagos, I am not one of them. Lagos never feels like home. Suddenly I see and realise, home has never been Lagos, home has always been Egbaland.
1 year birthday with my cousin
Someday in future, I shall own a home and probably settle down in Abeokuta
Dear future hubby, kindly take note

  3. Awww, my Lagos doesn't cut it for you lol. This is where I've spent the most part of my life. Someone actually said a few weeks ago that she sees me as a Lagos girl (she said she didn't mean it in a bad way lol)Oh well... Sometimes I want something serene though. The hustle and bustle of this town can get a tad bit too much.

I hope you get that beautiful house in Abeokuta and I can come visit with my family when we are passing by.

  7. Beautiful baby pics. I love people who proudly own where they come from, and are not ashamed in anyway. I love the way you love your roots. A man without roots, has no identity. Well done.

Btw, thanks for stopping by at mine's. Sure appreciated that. God bless you.

  10. Lovely..:)
I sometimes feel like running away from the busyness of Lagos myself and spending long days in Ijebu or somewhere else as serene.

  12. Nothing like home, not because we come from there but because it calls our name.
